This model a superb netbook to use for school because it’s small, lightweight and cheaper than a laptop and delivers awesome power. It’s great for a student needing to accomplish simple task such as taking notes in the classroom, typing up a report and researching online. Also it’s Bluetooth capabilities for instant connection on wi-fi in schools or at the library (or even starbucks!) It’s also great for a student because of it’s SUPER BATTERY LIFE. What’s worse than having your laptop die in the middle of class taking important notes to study over for your next test. With an average of around 7 hours + of battery life no need to worry about that happening with this model.
Which leads me into the first powerful feature this netbook has.
The battery life. The EEE PC 1015pem model comes with a 6 cell battery and claims to run up to 13 hours. From our research real owners of this model weren’t getting that many hours of life but close enough to it which is still super awesome! With a better battery is the netbook heavier? — No. The Asus EEE 1015 only 2.76 pounds with the battery. A good example of something that weighs this would be a large soup can. Girls don’t have to carry a separate bag they can easily slide it in there purse for easy carrying. My wife does this with hers. Guys could easily carry it in a backpack — It’s weight is super light. If your tired of lugging around that big heavy laptop around on the go or if your just wanting that portable computer on the go that’s light weight this model will do you wonders.
Work with Power and Speed – The processor inside this model is an Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor running at 1.50 Ghz. It’s one of the few netbooks available on the market with a dual core processor. Memory — Installed is 1 gig of memory and upgradeable to 2 gig. Installation of the memory chip is easy. Just flip the netbook around and unscrew 1 screw to open up the compartment. You might consider upgrading to 2 gigs of RAM, it’s worth it with the extra boost of speed it will give.
Bright, Easy to Read from Screen — The Asus 1015pem ‘s screen nice and bright and crystal clear to see. The screen is a 10.1 inch Matte Finish.
Skype Ready! The asus 1015 comes equipped with a built-in VGA webcam, the resolution is around 800 x 600 and the microphones quality is pretty good. Great for Skype chatting/video chatting with people.
Soft on the fingertips Keys — The keyboard keys are ‘chiclet’ style keys and smooth to the touch. Of course the keyboard is a bit smaller a standard laptop one, it still is comfortable to type on. Same with the palm rests.
The Speakers are BOOMIN’ — Sorry for the lingo, what I meant to say is the speakers on this netbook model sound great and LOUD at it’s full volume. Such a small netbook but it packs one kick from the speakers. The speakers are located on the bottom front of the netbook. It’s a great placement for people who just want to listen to music while it’s closed. Matthew Keas, an Asus EEE PC 1015 owner said “The speakers far outshine my Acer 3810t with “Dolby Experience” speakers” — Wow! He couldn’t of said it better. Having great speakers like this is a great feature to have — I currently own a laptop with terrible low speakers. There are times when I’m showing someone a video on YouTube or I’m just streaming audio online to hear as background music and I just can’t hear well with the volume cranked all the way up. Very disappointing and I paid $200 more than this asus model.
