Read What Current Owners Said About This Netbook
It is a dainty little piece of machinery like any other from the HP stable. The first thing I noticed about it was the price tag. Most of us know that ASUS and ACER are price warriors but to my surprise this model beats completion. The combination of brand and price is unbeatable – well almost.
The improved features from it’s previous version such as better battery life are excellent!
It’s previous version of the HP 210 held a terrible battery life – 4.25 hours. I know.. What were they thinking? This new version how holds upwards of 9 hours! Wow. Netbooks are known to have great battery life. With a feature like this, this netbook is back in the top 5 selection we’ve selected in overall best netbooks.

Let me now focus on some additional features this netbook holds.
HP is always a pleasure to work on because of its ergonomic design. It is comfortable and can be really kept on the lap while working because it has heat vents on the sides and not in the bottom. I can show off the imprint designs and colors which are stylish and give me value for money. Who says, netbooks are for work? They are equally meant for pleasure.
Let us look at the screen. It has a matt finish whereas most of the netbook screens have shiny finish. This means that the glare is minimized and the text is readable even in bright light. I am not claiming that you can sit right under the Sun and work but you are nearly there. The media accelerator card has a shared memory of 256 MB which is just about okay to watch videos.
I had a look at the innards and this is what I came up with.
The HP Mini 210 is built on Intel Atom Processor N450 with specs of 1.66 GHz and 512 KB L2 Cache. The cache is pretty good for such a small netbook. Other than that there is nothing to write home about.
It has a one GB DDR2 Memory which is mounted on a single DIMM slot. You can upgrade by discarding your one GB RAM and replacing it by a two GB piece since there is only one slot to hold the RAM module. Obviously the designers feel that one GB is more than enough for the operations this netbook is meant for and I agree. Sometimes, simply upgrading the RAM doesn’t really add to the speed or efficiency. There are many other factors which play a role in speeding up a computer.
It has a 160 GB, 5400RPM, SATA hard drive. Nothing special here and 160 GB should suffice for the work you do on a netbook. I for one am a Jim Hendrix fan and have downloaded most of his videos and music. I still have a lot of memory left. You must remember that some of the hard disk space is taken up for recovery partition but that’s not much.

Genuine Windows 7 Starter is preloaded which is once again a standard feature. The operating system can be restored with the press of a button and does not require recovery disks. Once again this is something you see in most netbooks nowadays.
The HP Mini 210 come with 10.1-inch Diagonal WSVGA LED Anti-glare Widescreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 which is pretty good. With a built in mic and speakers with a web cam thrown in , it is ready for video jaunt.
Considering that you are going to use this piece while on the move, the wireless capabilities are critical. It has 802.11b/g WLAN or wireless LAN which means you can connect to any wireless network.
Overall, The HP Mini 210 – 1040NR is a decent buy. I am impressed with the price which is pretty low for a branded netbook. It is sleek and the design is fantastic – easy to carry, ergonomic, stylish, with comfortable keyboard and great finish. The speed is par for the course and one can enhance video streaming with a bit of nifty technology. It has all the features you need for a life on the move.
It’s previous model version only held around 4 hours of battery life. Having listened and watch the netbook market, they really did good with much better battery life.
In that case The HP Mini 210 fits the role like a glove.
